The conference was held in a hybrid format. Participants discussed the development of applied research in the humanities, interdisciplinarity, and the integration of modern technologies. During the event, students, master’s degree candidates, and faculty members from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkey, Sweden, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Indonesia, and Thailand presented their reports.

“Applied research in the humanities and social sciences plays a crucial role today in understanding and addressing global challenges. Our goal is to create a dynamic space where scholars and practitioners can share innovative ideas and research findings, contributing to the development of society and the academic environment,” noted MNU Provost Anar Ibrayeva.

The main focus of the discussions was the integration of modern technologies into humanitarian fields. The participants’ presentations covered a wide range of topics, from the challenges of preserving cultural nuances in machine translation to the implementation of AI in hospitality and psychological support services. Supporting young researchers and students was also an important part of the event, giving them an opportunity to present their projects and receive guidance from experienced colleagues.

It should be noted that a conference proceedings volume was published following the event.

Following the results of the competition, MNU teams won first and third places in the Kazakh league, as well as first place in the Russian league. In the final stage, they outperformed teams from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, SDU University, and Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University. In addition, students Yelnaz Kumar and Adilkhan Ondassynov were recognized as the best speakers of the final round.

It should be noted that the moot court competition was conducted in accordance with the rules of administrative legal proceedings. Participants’ performances were evaluated by judges of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court, representatives of international law firms, and legal experts. The event was organized by the consulting company Fortune Partners with the support of the Supreme Court, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, and the Judicial Administration.

The competition took place over three months in Astana and Almaty. The project is aimed at promoting national law, advancing legal scholarship and practical legal skills, strengthening interaction between students and potential employers, and training highly qualified legal professionals. Around 100 participants took part in the competition.

The delegation from the Tyumen Region became acquainted with MNU’s activities, as well as its scientific and educational potential. The dialogue focused on strengthening international ties and creating new educational formats that combine scientific achievements with the demands of the modern labor market. The delegation included representatives of the regional leadership, heads of the departments of education and investment policy, as well as members of the депутатский corps and business community, including leaders of the oil and gas cluster.

During the meeting, the MNU leadership presented the university’s key research programs and projects in the field of artificial intelligence. Deputy Governor of the Tyumen Region Andrey Panteleev introduced the concept of the oil and gas cluster and proposed joining efforts between scientific organizations of the two countries to address challenges in the fuel and energy sector. Particular attention was paid to the Interuniversity Campus project in Tyumen, which will become a center for innovation and unite all five universities of the region.

It is worth noting that the Tyumen Region is actively developing economic and cultural cooperation with Kazakhstan. In addition, MNU successfully cooperates with more than ten Russian universities.

The agreement was reached on the sidelines of the 2nd China–Central Asia Forum on Public Administration and Sustainable Development held in Lanzhou, China. Dean of the MNU Graduate School of Law Olga Bektibayeva took part in the forum and delivered a presentation on the possibilities of algorithmic regulation in the field of social justice and the legal limitations of digital states.

The memorandum was signed by Olga Bektibayeva and Tu Silong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Law at Lanzhou University. The agreement предусматривает the implementation of academic mobility programs, joint research projects, and the organization of conferences, seminars, and symposiums. The parties also plan to jointly supervise doctoral dissertations and arrange research internships for faculty members.

It is worth noting that Lanzhou University ranks among the top 50 universities in China and the world’s top 500 universities. Founded in 1909, it became the first modern university in northwestern China. The university oversees 35 research institutes and offers more than 200 academic programs.

Earlier, Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted an international conference jointly organized with Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, dedicated to discussing the legal architecture of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation.

The competition lasted for five months and attracted strong interest among students. The initiative was organized to promote a reading culture within the university community. It is worth noting that last year, during an award ceremony for cultural and arts professionals, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that in order to build a progressive state, Kazakhstan must first become a reading nation.

Throughout the marathon, participants read one book each month, exploring works of Kazakh and international fiction, fantasy literature, and business publications. In addition, 55 meetings and discussions were held in the university library, where students answered questions about the books they had read. Another requirement of the мараthon was recording video reviews of the books and maintaining reading journals with personal reflections on the works.

Nine students advanced to the final stage. To determine the winners, an intellectual quiz was organized, during which participants demonstrated detailed knowledge of all the books they had read. As a result of the marathon, Diana Kakharman, a student of the MNU Law School, won first place.

“I am very happy to have been part of the book marathon. It helped me develop a culture and discipline of reading. I have loved books since childhood, and this project became a real challenge for me. Chingiz Aitmatov’s novel Farewell, Gulsary! left the strongest impression on me. The book had a deep emotional impact,” said Diana Kakharman.

The finalists received valuable prizes, including an iPad, a smartwatch, and a smart speaker. The second book marathon is scheduled for the next academic year.

Presentations were also delivered on citizens’ rights to a favorable environment, constitutional and legal guarantees of the inviolability of the home, changes in the priority of international treaties within the Constitution, and the protection of personal data and privacy in the digital age.

It should be noted that the dialogue platform aims to strengthen future lawyers’ practical knowledge of constitutional justice and the rule of law.
