The Central Asian rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition recently took place in Bishkek, where students from <\/strong>Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) Law School<\/strong><\/a> became the champions of Kazakhstan.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over three days, the MNU team competed against strong contenders from five universities in Almaty (Narxoz University, Suleyman Demirel University, Caspian University, KIMEP University, and Almaty Management University). Owing to their exceptional training in international law, MNU students secured the championship title, along with awards for Best Speaker<\/strong> and Best Written Submissions<\/strong>. As a result, the team has earned the right to represent Kazakhstan in the international rounds of the competition, set to take place in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor over 20 years, Maqsut Narikbayev University has proudly represented Kazakhstan in the international rounds of the world\u2019s most prestigious public international law competition. This achievement reflects the consistently high caliber of our students’ training, which once again allowed them to gain victory at the national level and secured their trip to Washington. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our students\u2014<\/em>Meruyert Zhadranova, Maya Kotova, Anel Sapargaliyeva, Malika Yeszhan, and Ayan Kalymbekov<\/em><\/strong>\u2014and express my gratitude to their head coach, <\/em>Sebastien Lafrance<\/em><\/strong>. The main challenge lies ahead, and we are going to strive for an outstanding result,\u201d<\/em> said Olga Bektibayeva<\/strong>, Dean of the MNU Law School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition, established in 1959, is the one of the world\u2019s largest and most renowned student competitions in international law, simulating a case before the International Court of Justice. Each year, approximately 2,000 students<\/strong> from over 600 universities across 90 countries<\/strong> take part in the competition.
