A lecture on financial security, delivered by representatives of the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan (FMA), was held at Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU). The agency’s staff informed students about the main types of cyber fraud and the methods used to counter them.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was part of the FMA\u2019s guest lecture series, taking place this week across the country. According to the agency, it presents a valuable opportunity for young people to learn how to protect themselves and their loved ones from financial scams. The number of such crimes is steadily increasing, with a particular focus on young people, who are among the most frequent victims of fraud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFollowing the instruction of the Head of State, we have intensified efforts to raise financial literacy among the population, particularly among the youth. Today, fraudulent schemes are becoming more and more sophisticated \u2014 from pyramid schemes to phone scams and cyberattacks. We explained to students how fraudsters operate, the consequences of falling victim to scams, and the necessary steps to protect themselves and those around them<\/em>,\u201d said Zhenis Yelemessov<\/strong>, Deputy Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Deputy Chairman, who is also an MNU graduate, emphasised the importance of enhancing financial awareness among the younger generation. Additionally, it was announced that the Financial Security Olympiad <\/strong>for students and schoolchildren will take place from May 21 to 24, <\/strong>2025. Based on the competition results, winners will receive monetary certificates, the opportunity to participate in the<\/strong> International Olympiad in Russia<\/strong>, and the potential for employment within the FMA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
