Students of Maqsut Narikbayev University have won second place at the AIFC Court Moot 2025 International Moot Court Competition. In the final round, they competed against the team from the East China University of Political Science and Law.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prestigious international competition, now in its eighth year, brought together 14 university teams from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The final round took place last week at the AIFC Court. The MNU team consisted of final-year International Law students Symbat Yeltuzer, Malika Yeszhan, Anel Sapargaliyeva, Ayan Kalymbekov, and Sabyrzhan Akhanov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Moot Court<\/strong> is a renowned legal competition held in the format of a simulated court hearing, based on the traditions of English law. The entire process is conducted in English and aims to develop a wide range of practical skills among future legal professionals. During preparation, students analyse complex legal issues, study a specific area of law in depth, prepare written submissions for either the claimant or respondent, and enhance their advocacy and public speaking skills before experienced judges. This year\u2019s panel included Chief Justice of the AIFC Court Lord Burnett of Maldon, AIFC Court Judge Sir Stephen Richards<\/strong>, and AIFC Small Claims Court Judge Patricia Edwards<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is noteworthy that MNU holds the record for the most victories in the AIFC Court Moot<\/strong>. The university team has reached the final round seven times and claimed the championship title in 2021\u20132024<\/strong>. Additionally, this year\u2019s silver medals earned the finalists the opportunity to undertake internships at the AIFC Court and the International Arbitration Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
