On November 14, 2024 Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted a guest lecture by the U.S. Ambassador to Kazakhstan, H. E. Daniel Rosenblum. The lecture on stories linked to diplomacy, connection and mutual understanding, highlighted the importance of building strong relationships between nations through shared values and cooperation.
Ambassador Rosenblum shared four personal stories that illustrated key lessons in diplomacy, cultural understanding, and collaboration. He spoke about his early experiences with Russian culture, introduction to Kazakh traditions in Karaganda, and the reflections on the role of diplomacy inspired by former U.S. Secretary of State George Schultz. He also shared a moving story about the Nevada-Semipalatinsk anti-nuclear movement, highlighting the shared efforts of Kazakh and American activists in addressing global challenges.
The Ambassador also reflected on the question of the United States’ interest in Central Asia. He noted that the U.S. is committed to ensuring that Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, remain stable, secure, sovereign, and free from external threats.
Ambassador Rosenblum also emphasized two key points: the necessity of collective action to address global issues and the value of fostering connections between people to strengthen international partnerships.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students engaged with the Ambassador on topics ranging from bilateral relations to global diplomacy.
This lecture underscored the importance of collaboration between nations and the shared commitment to fostering mutual understanding.
