The traditional Presidential Ball of Maqsut Narikbayev University was hosted in Astana, becoming a vibrant symbol of the continuity of cultural values, beauty, and inspiration. The prestigious event took place at the Kalibek Kuanyshbayev Kazakh National Musical and Drama Theater.
First introduced in 2013, the tradition of the Presidential Ball has grown over the years and, in the past three years, expanded beyond the university, evolving into a significant cultural event for the capital. One of the university’s key student events is held in honour of statesman and public figure Maqsut Narikbayev, a Doctor of Law and Professor. This year, March 30 marked the 85th anniversary of the birth of MNU’s honorary Rector.
“The Presidential Ball is a cherished tradition at our university. Students prepare for this day with great anticipation. It’s an evening of beauty, youth, and joy. The ball honours Maqsut Narikbayev, who made significant contributions to the development of our university and worked relentlessly in the name of justice and education. In this regard, I would also like to express my gratitude to the students’ parents for their unwavering support, and to the faculty for their dedication,” said Talgat Narikbayev, Chairman of the Board of MNU.
The evening’s programme included traditional performances by debutants, a refined dance programme, live musical accompaniment, and performances by talented artists. The event was attended by students’ parents, cultural figures, as well as employees of foreign embassies and international organisations. Zharas Assylbayev, Head of the Department of Student Affairs, highlighted the significance of the event for MNU students.
“The Presidential Ball is not only a formal occasion, but also an essential part of university culture. It brings together students from various schools, inspiring them towards creativity and self-realisation. Each year, the ball becomes a much-anticipated event, one that is prepared for in advance and leaves lasting memories,” said Zharas Assylbayev.
It is worth noting that the Presidential Ball provides a unique platform for cultural and public initiatives. Additionally, the event promotes ballroom arts, supports young talent, strengthens international relations, and enhances the university’s reputation as a hub for education and culture.
