On November 1, 2023, at the invitation of the Head of the State, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Kazakhstan with an official visit. This is the return visit of the President of France to Astana. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has visited Paris on November 29-30, last year.

As a result of the negotiations, 35 documents were signed to strengthen strategic partnership in the trade and economic, aerospace, engineering, mining, agro-industrial, nuclear and energy sectors.

Among the signed documents was also a Declaration of Intent in the field of cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research. Kazakhstan and France are actively developing ties between educational and scientific centers. The Sorbonne – Kazakhstan Institute has been operating since 2014. Partnership with three French educational institutions is actively developing: University of Poitiers, University of Lorraine, University of Strasbourg.

During his visit to Astana, the French President met with students and teachers of one of the prestigious universities of our country — Maqsut Narikbayev University. In a question-and-answer format, E. Macron and students discussed promising areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and France.

According to President Macron, Kazakhstan and France are aimed at further enhancing the strategic partnership. He noted the importance of the Trans-Caspian transport route in promoting the interconnectedness of the continents. The French leader believes that Kazakhstan’s export opportunities in the context of global changes in the world open up great prospects for Kazakhstani producers.

Touching upon the issues on the international agenda, Emmanuel Macron shared his vision of maintaining stability in the world and the region, noted the special role of the policy pursued by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev:

— How can we preserve peace, cooperation, and international law at this time? These are the problems that undoubtedly exist today. If you have unstable neighbors, how can you maintain economic stability in the country? How can we keep our homeland calm? At such a time, we must maintain our stability and our values. In my opinion, the President of Kazakhstan is carrying out such work. You reach heights with your projects and your vision,” said Mr. Macron.

At the end of the meeting, the French President got acquainted with the activities of the MNU International School of Journalism.

The International School of Journalism, opened this year, in September, is the first joint project of the TV and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Maqsut Narikbayev University for the training, support, and professional development of talented youth in the field of modern media communications.
