Togzhan Iliyassova, a student of Maqsut Narikbayev University, became a prize winner of the annual National Financial Security Olympiad. She was among the top performers of the intellectual competition.
The Olympiad, held within the framework of the “Law and Order” narrative, was organized by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring with the support of MNU, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, and Halyk Bank. The aim of the competition was to develop students’ practical knowledge and competencies in financial security, combating the shadow economy and financial crimes, as well as to foster analytical thinking and professional responsibility. In total, about six thousand students and master’s degree students from universities across the country took part in the Olympiad.
Forty participants advanced to the final stage of the competition, which was held at MNU. As a result, ten winners were selected to represent Kazakhstan at the International Financial Security Olympiad in Russia. Among them is Togzhan Iliyassova, a student of the MNU Law School.

“Together with a student from Zhubanov University, Aisholpan Amankossova, I won in the ‘Law’ category. I am very happy that my efforts and sleepless nights of preparation paid off. Thanks to the Olympiad, I gained a lot of new knowledge, especially about the work of the FATF, an organization that combats money laundering and the financing of terrorism,” said Togzhan Iliyassova.
It should be noted that last year, MNU students became vice-champions of the 5th International Financial Security Olympiad.
