Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted a roundtable discussion on the development of a new Civil Code. Experts exchanged views on improving and revising legislation in light of the digital economy.
The discussion focused on implementing the Head of State’s initiative to adopt a new Civil Code, announced earlier this week in his Address to the People of Kazakhstan. The event was attended by members of the Kurultai delegation led by Deputy Speaker Nurlan Beknazarov, MNU Board Chair Talgat Narikbayev, the university’s legal scholars, Vice Minister of Justice Botagoz Zhakselikova, Deputy Chairman of the Adilet Party Nursultan Baitilesov, as well as experts and journalists. The roundtable was organised jointly with the Kurultai and the Adilet Party.
The event served as an important professional platform bringing together representatives of government bodies, academia and the expert community. Participants emphasised the strategic importance of adopting a new Civil Code, which would help strengthen the country’s legal sovereignty and ensure sustainable economic growth. MNU professors also delivered substantive presentations as part of the discussion.

Following the event, participants highlighted the importance of ensuring the broadest possible coordination among all stakeholders involved in drafting the new Civil Code, in close cooperation with the legal expert community.
