As part of the “Intercultural Communication” course at MNU, a guest lecture was held with José de Castro Ataíde Amaral, Chargé d’Affaires of the Portuguese Republic in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The session covered the contemporary image of Portugal, key directions of foreign policy, and the country’s cultural and tourism potential. The speaker discussed the value of intercultural competencies for public diplomacy, tourism, and creative industries, and answered questions about career opportunities for students interested in international communications. The event advances SDG 4 by developing global competencies and language practice; supports SDG 8 through career guidance in the international sphere; strengthens SDG 16 through dialogue and mutual respect; and delivers on SDG 17 via partnership with diplomatic missions. Outcomes: students received a list of recommended resources and souvenirs from the Embassy. Next steps: prepare reflective essays and design mini-projects on destination cultural branding.
