Within the Media Linguistics minor, students of “Translation Studies” and “Applied Linguistics” met with speaker Askhat Niyazov. The session focused on transforming traditional journalism to fit digital platforms: editorial workflows, audience engagement, information verification, and ethics amid fast news cycles. The discussion covered newsroom–university collaboration, student internships, multilingual content production, and algorithmic distribution. The format included an introduction, case examples, and Q&A. SDG link: strengthening industry–university partnerships through knowledge exchange and career development pathways (SDG 17). Outcomes: a competency list for student portfolios, agreements on consultations for student media projects, and suggested topics for mini-studies. Next steps: publishing session materials in the LMS, collecting applications for mentoring sessions, and preparing a joint workshop on editorial standards for social platforms.
