Employees of Maqsut Narikbayev University became the winners of AlgoBatyr 2026, the first Kazakhstan championship in vibe coding for corporate IT specialists. The competition was held in Astana as part of the international AI & Digital Bridge forum.
A total of 32 developers from 16 teams competed in the championship. MNU was represented by specialists from the AI Implementation Group (FDE), Rasul Aisayev and Berik Bazarov. The competition was held under a Double Elimination system, in which participants faced each other in one-on-one duels.
AlgoBatyr is a championship focused on solving algorithmic problems using large language models (LLMs). Unlike classical competitive programming, where knowledge of syntax plays a key role, this format focuses on the ability to properly formulate a task for artificial intelligence, create an effective prompt, and obtain an optimal solution. The event was organized by the Sports Programming Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Astana Hub.
Following the competition, first place was won by Rasul Aisayev, Head of the AI Implementation Group (FDE). He outperformed competitors from companies including Damqor, Kazakhtelecom, Documentolog, Magnum E-Commerce, and other representatives of the corporate sector. In addition, the university team won the corporate AlgoBatyr Cup for the best overall result.
The championship also provided an opportunity to assess how employees apply AI when solving tasks and to identify the skills required for development within companies.
