Charity Marathon Held in Astana by MNU

A charity marathon organized by Maqsut Narikbayev University took place at Triathlon Park in Astana. The sporting event brought together more than 500 residents and guests of the capital.

Participants dedicated the race to supporting university alumna Markhifat Gabit. The program included 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km races, as well as a 400-meter children’s relay. The marathon was held with the support of the Astana Triathlon Federation and construction company The Akan Building.

“I am a 2014 graduate of MNU. The marathon is a wonderful sporting tradition, a celebration of sports and charity. It also unites students and alumni of the university. I wish everyone to stay active and keep running. The best starts are always ahead,” said marathon participant Yerlan Mukhamediev.

Funds raised during the event are traditionally directed to students and alumni of the university who are battling serious illnesses. Thanks to collective efforts, assistance had previously been provided to three MNU students.

“I regularly take part in marathons, and this race was simply wonderful. It is great when sporting events have a special charitable mission. The idea of sports for good deeds truly brings people together,” said Chingiz Kadyrov, winner of the 3 km race at the MNU marathon.

The marathon winners received valuable prizes from the event’s partners. In addition to the sporting activities, the organizers prepared an entertainment program for runners and spectators, including a lottery with gifts and prizes.

“The event was organized at a very high level, and everything took place in a warm, comfortable, and harmonious atmosphere. The people around were friendly, communicating and sincerely supporting one another. I do not participate in marathons very often, and the race was not easy, but thanks to the perfect weather, I was left with only positive impressions,” emphasized the Ambassador of the European Union to Kazakhstan, Aleška Simkić.

The MNU Marathon has become an important part of the university’s culture. The event is held annually.

“I am 64 years old and an active marathon runner. I also do swimming and cycling. I am very happy to participate in the MNU charity marathon for the second time. I love running and feel even better every time. It was very exciting to run the distance together with young people,” said marathon participant Eleusiz Parnabay.

It should be noted that last year the MNU Marathon was held in support of student Yersultan Boribek.
