Dear students,
International School of Economics and the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan launch a minor in Financial Intelligence and Financial Security in the spring semester of 2025-2026 academic year.
The minor combines the basic knowledge of accounting and finance, data management and data visualisation skills and understanding of compliance and financial intelligence to equip students with the ability to detect and prevent financial crimes like money laundering, tax evasion, and financing of criminal activities.
Importantly, this minor also opens strong employment opportunities. As the AML/CFT sphere is rapidly developing, there is a growing demand for new specialists. Graduates of the minor will be competitive candidates for positions such as Compliance Officer or Financial Crime Analyst in the Financial Monitoring Agency, AIFC, as well as in the banking sector and other financial organizations.
This minor includes a number of courses taught at ISE MNU and a newly introduced course on anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing and compliance (AML/CFT & Compliance). This course will be taught by Danat Baibulov (MSc, The School of International Public Affairs, Columbia University, USA), who works at the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The additional requirement to the minor is the internship completed in the relevant field.
If you would like to register for the course AML/CFT & Compliance in the spring semester, please contact the office of advisors.
