Practice, AI, and Interdisciplinary Programs: MNU to Introduce New Approaches to Education

A meeting between the leadership of Maqsut Narikbayev University and the faculty was held to discuss the transformation of the University’s educational programs.

Provost Anar Ibrayeva shared the results of the academic work carried out over the past year and congratulated faculty members on the successful completion of the academic year. According to her, academic processes have been standardized, while the methodological competencies of the teaching staff have been strengthened. In addition, projects aimed at fostering a reading culture among students have been implemented, and artificial intelligence components have been integrated into the content of academic courses.

Meanwhile, MNU Vice Chairman of the Board for Science, Innovation, and Artificial Intelligence Sergey Pen emphasized the need for a systematic transformation of educational programs in response to current labor market demands and the rapid development of AI technologies. In the upcoming academic year, the University will launch several new programs, including Artificial Intelligence and Frontier Systems: AI + X, Business Administration in Accounting with AI Applications, Law, Linguistics (TESOL) and Translation Technologies, and Tourism and Hospitality Management. The integration of AI components into educational programs will also be further expanded, with a strong focus on the principles of responsible AI use.

During the meeting, special attention was given to the implementation of a practice-oriented learning model based on the regular alternation of academic study and real-world professional experience. This approach involves continuous engagement between students, the University, and industry partners, enabling learners to apply their knowledge in practical settings and subsequently reflect on their experiences to further develop professional competencies. The model will be piloted at the International School of Journalism.

The meeting concluded with a substantive discussion on the implementation of new approaches to the educational process.
