Maqsut Narikbayev University welcomed Christina Honegger, Ambassador of Switzerland to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The diplomat delivered a lecture on Geneva’s role in the development of international organizations.
Christina Honegger spoke about Switzerland’s history and Geneva’s emergence as one of the key centres of international cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the country’s humanitarian traditions, the principle of neutrality, and the development of multilateral diplomacy. The discussion also focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the contribution of universities to their implementation.
During the lecture, the Ambassador donated a copy of The UN Country Level: A Practical Guide to the United Nations Operational System to the university library. The publication explores the work of the United Nations at the country level and provides practical insights into the functioning of its operational system. The book will serve as an additional resource for students and researchers interested in the activities of one of the world’s leading international organizations.
It is worth noting that Christina Honegger assumed her post as Ambassador of Switzerland to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in early September this year.
