Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) invites students from around the world to take part in the third International Legathon MaxUP. The large-scale legal case competition will take place on 9–10 April 2027.
International Legathon MaxUP is a global competition where bright minds develop solutions to pressing legal challenges in the digital age. It provides a platform for young innovators to bring law and technology together and turn bold ideas into practical solutions. Over the past two years, the competition has brought together more than 100 students from 13 countries.
The central theme of the competition is The Future of Law. The international law firm Baker McKenzie is the competition’s partner. The winners of International Legathon MaxUP will receive cash prizes.
In 2027, student teams will compete in English- and Russian-language leagues. Their presentations will be evaluated by leading legal practitioners, government representatives and international experts. The competition is open to university teams consisting of four law students and one accompanying representative.
To participate, teams must complete an application form on the official website and submit a motivational essay of no more than 2,000 words on the topic “The Transformation of Legal Institutions Under the Influence of Artificial Intelligence Over the Next 10 Years.” Applications are open until 1 January 2027. The organisers will cover all expenses for the 16 selected teams.
