The researchers, Sarsenbaeva A. and Zhaksybay M., presented the results of the study obtained during interviews with the faculty of teacher education programs (n=45) from four universities.

Participants noted the following challenges in developing and delivering courses on research methods:

• 1. Limited resources in the Kazakh language;
• 2. Lack of experience in teaching the courses. Faculty staff feel the need for support from the ministry or more experienced teachers;
• 3. No/limited/temporary access to databases;
• 4. Poor infrastructure (software, interactive whiteboards, TVs, laboratories);
• 5. Lack of interest from students;
• 6. Students face challenges in understanding the concepts and objectives of the study;
• 7. Large groups (20-30 students) consisting of different specialties;
