Non-degree students

Any person wanting to attend courses at Maqsut Narikbayev University must submit all the required documents and submit an application no later than five working days before the start of the academic period to the Academic Quality Committee of the relevant school in order to obtain permission.

 

Upon obtaining permission from the Academic Quality Committee, a prospective non-graduate student shall sign an agreement and pay in full for the number of credits planned to study in the academic period. Tuition fee is paid according to the Tuition Fee Register for the current academic year.

 

Achievement of the learning outcomes is approved at a meeting of the Academic Quality Committee. Still, students are awarded neither an academic degree nor a diploma of higher or postgraduate education.

 

Non-degree students have the right to register for the number of credits recommended by the Academic Quality Committee.

 

Non-degree students shall fulfill all the requirements of the disciplines and programs and pass the entrance examinations during current academic year to be admitted in bachelor or master students in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

Admission requirements for non-degree students and students of Provisional Program are regulated by the Admission Policy for students of Maqsut Narikbayev University. 

Documents

A person, admitted to the program as a non-degree student, is required to have:

 

  • – certificate of completion of secondary education, a diploma of technical and vocational or higher education (original);
  • – valid certificate of delivery of Unified National Testing (bachelor’s degree) or the results of entrance tests (master’s degree);
  • – 6 photos of 3×4 size, also must attach an electronic version of no less than 1200×1600 pixels;
  • – medical certificate form 086-U (a fluorographic image, a copy of the vaccination card should be attached);
  • – results of the KEPT or international certificate confirming proficiency in English;
  • – the minutes of the Commission of Higher School entrants to the MLS, ISE, SLA and ISJ on admission (if available);
  • – original and a copy of the identity card, original and a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the guardian’s identity card (if the applicant is a minor);
  • – a copy of the military registration card or military ID (for young men entering full-time education).

Application deadline

Any person, wishing to attend courses at university, must submit all the required documents in accordance with paragraph 6 of the Student Admission Policy of  “KAZGUU University named after M.S. Narikbayev” JSC (Rules for admission to study at “KAZGUU University named after M.S. Narikbayev” JSC for professional educational programs of higher education (bachelor’s degree) and postgraduate education (master’s degree, doctoral(PhD) degree) in 2020) and submit an application no later than five working days before the start of the academic period to the Academic Quality Assurance Committee of the relevant school in order to receive approval. Admission of students (non-degree) to the development of disciplines is carried out by order of the Provost on the basis of the decision of the Academic Quality Committees of Schools.

What to do to be admitted to the University an applicant (newly enrolled student)

  1. Submit the necessary documents to the Admission Committee;
  2. Receive username and password from corporate mail;
  3. After checking the documents and receiving approval by the admission manager, contact the adviser (bachelor’s degree) or manager (master’s degree) to determine a list of courses to study in the academic period;
  4. Submit an application by corporate e-mail no later than five working days before the start of the academic period to the Academic Quality Assurance Committee of the Higher School for permission;
  5. After receiving the approval of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee an applicant shall:
  • – conclude an agreement;
  • – make a full payment for the number of academic credits planned for studying in the spring semester (payment for education services is made according to the Register of the cost of services for the current academic year);
  • – receive the schedule of classes from the adviser;
  • – check the availability of registration for courses in Canvas LMS (in accordance with the decision of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee).
  1. Registration for the courses will be carried out by the manager at Canvas LMS in accordance with the decision of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee.

What to do if a non-degree student wishes to continue his/her studies in the next academic period

  1. Submit an application by corporate e-mail to the Academic Quality Assurance Committee of Higher School to receive the approval no later than five working days before the start of the academic period;
  2. After receive the approval of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee they should:
  • – conclude supplementary agreement to the contract;
  • – make a full payment for the number of academic credits planned for studying in the semester (payment for education services is made according to the Register of the cost of services for the current academic year);
  • – receive a login and password from Canvas LMS and corporate e-mail from the adviser as well as a schedule of classes;
  • – check the availability of registration for courses in the Canvas LMS (in accordance with the decision of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee).
  1. Registration for courses will be carried out by the manager at Canvas LMS in accordance with the decision of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee.

  • – medical certificate form 086-U (a fluorographic image, a copy of the vaccination card should be attached);
  • – original and a copy of the identity card, original and a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the guardian’s identity card (if the applicant is a minor);
  • – a copy of the military registration card or military ID (for young men entering full-time education).

Application deadline

Any person, wishing to take courses at university, must submit all the required documents to the manager of internal affairs of MNU School of Liberal Arts and submit an application for approval no later than five working days before the start of the academic period to the Academic Quality Assurance Committee. Admission of audit students to the Provisional program is carried out by order of the Provost on the basis of the decision of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee of MNU School of Liberal Arts.

What to do if an audit student wishes to re-enter provisional program

  • – Submit all required documents to the manager of internal affairs of MNU School of Liberal Arts;
  • – After checking the documents, the manager of internal affairs of MNU School of Liberal Arts determines the list of disciplines to be studied in the academic period with the applicant and his/her legal representative (if the applicant is under age of 18);
  • – The Manager of internal affairs of MNU School of Liberal Arts sends an applicant’s application and documents to the Academic Quality Assurance Committee;

 

After receiving the approval of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee, an applicant is required:

  • – to conclude an agreement;
  • – make a full payment for the number of academic credits planned for study in the semester (payment for education services is made according to the Register of the cost of services for the current academic year);
  • – check the availability of registration for courses in the Canvas LMS (in accordance with the decision of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee);
  • – receive a login and password from Canvas LMS and corporate e-mail, the schedule of training sessions from the manager of internal affairs of MNU School of Liberal Arts.

 

Registration for courses will be carried out by the manager in Canvas LMS in accordance with the decision of the Academic Quality Assurance Committee.

Academic credits transfer

By the decision of the Academic Quality Committee, the credits can be transferred and recognized for the following categories of students:

  • – students of the Provisional Program, entering the University, who have taken the courses of the bachelor’s program; but not more than 35 academic credits/ECTS;
  • – non–degree students who have taken the courses of the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, when enrolling as bachelor’s and master’s degree students; the term of stay in the status of “non–degree” is no more than 3 years.

Payment for educational services

1. Payment for educational services in the academic period is made based on the planned number of academic credits;
2. Payment is arrived to the University’s account within three banking days;
