Guest lecture of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel

 

On October 19, 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to the Republic of Kazakhstan – H.E. Mr. Edwin Nathan Yabo Glusman delivered a guest lecture at M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University within “Applied diplomacy” course.

 

Mr. Edwin Nathan Yabo Glusman spoke about innovations, level of economic activity and quality of life in Israel. Ambassador also shared his views on current political situation on the international arena answering questions of students.

In the frame of the visit to our University Ambassador presented as a gift books for students of the “Applied Diplomacy course” and a national flag of Israel to KAZGUU.

Guest lecture of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Brazil

 

On October 17, 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Brazil to the Republic of Kazakhstan – H.E. Mr. Rubem Antonio Corrêa Barbosa delivered a guest lecture within “Applied Diplomacy” course at M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University.

Ambassador talked about the economic growth of the country and the fundamental principles of Brazilian diplomacy.

In conclusion, Ambassador gifted books about Brasil and advised students, who will follow his steps in the future, try to specialize in a specific area of their career.

M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University Ensures the Protection of Employee Rights

At M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University the Conciliation Commission ensures the protection of employees’ labor rights in accordance with the labor legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It serves as the primary body for resolving individual labor disputes between employees and the university, addressing issues related to labor law, compensation, transfers, and other employment matters. The commission is made up of an equal number of representatives from both employees and management, ensuring a fair balance of interests. If a dispute cannot be settled directly, the commission reviews it within set deadlines and issues a binding decision. Through this process, the university ensures fair conflict resolution and the protection of employee rights.

Academic and staff recruitment at
M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University
M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University conducts annual academic staff recruitment from May 1 to August 31, with additional hiring each semester if needed. Vacancy announcements are posted on the university website, professional platforms, and social media. Candidates must have a higher or postgraduate education and meet the qualification requirements for all academic positions from Teaching Assistant to Professor Emeritus.
The selection process involves resume screening, competitive selection by the Hiring Committee, and final approval by the university commission, led by the Provost.
M. Compensation system and benefits at
M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University

The university demonstrates its commitment to fair pay principles. A guaranteed portion of the salary (80%) is fixed, providing employees with a stable income and enabling them to plan their expenses. The variable portion of the salary (20%) is performance-based, motivating employees to improve their efficiency. We care about employees’ social security by offering them a comprehensive benefits package, including paid leave and other benefits. The university provides a broad range of learning and development opportunities for staff, supporting their professional growth and career advancement. The university’s salary rate is significantly higher than the established minimum living wage, which was set at 40,567 tenge in 2023 across the country https://online.zakon.kz/Document/?doc_id=1026672. The average salary at the university was 420,000 tenge in 2023. Moreover, the compensation system is free from any form of discrimination based on gender, age, race, nationality, or other grounds (HR policy, clause 2.2.16). The compensation system also includes bonuses and additional payments based on performance evaluation (KPIs). Performance assessment and determination of bonus amounts are conducted collectively in accordance with established regulations.

The project team has conducted:

An analysis aimed at identifying the gaps in rural tourism in Kazakhstan;
A pilot project aimed at sustainable development of rural areas in Bulandyn district of Akmola region. The project served 6136 tourists, which resulted in a significant increase in tourism income and tax revenues;
A comprehensive plan for the development of anchor villages has been developed and approved, including measures to improve the infrastructure, water supply, education, health care, and create new employment opportunities in agricultural business and tourism.

The project team proposes to:

Amend the legislation to allow farmers to practice agricultural tourism on agricultural land;
Introduce tax incentives for new tourist facilities and the modernization of existing ones, as well as a reduced loan program to support entrepreneurs in rural tourism;
Establish the accountability of local executive bodies for the development of rural tourism and better coordination between different state structures;
Continue the development of the meat cluster in Bulandyn district, which will increase the production and processing of agricultural products;
Ensure modernization of infrastructure in rural areas, including roads, communications, education and health facilities, to create conditions for sustainable development and attract tourists;
Promote engagement with local communities and businesses to attract investment and develop pivotal villages;
Test the successful models of sustainable rural development and expand them to other regions of Kazakhstan.

On November 15, 2022, M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University hosted the seminar titled “Ensuring Sustainable Development as the Main Mission of Implementing the Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the People of Kazakhstan” and the business game “Mission 2030.”

«COP-27: The voice of youth from Glasgow to Sharm El-Sheikh»

October 28, 2022 M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University hosted the student’s debates entitled: «COP-27: The voice of youth from Glasgow to Sharm El-Sheikh». The organizers were UN Resident Coordinator Office, Embassy of Egypt in Kazakhstan, British Embassy in Kazakhstan, Embassy of Italy in Kazakhstan.

KAZGUU students majoring in International Relations were divided into four groups: «Mitigation», «Adaptation», «Finance» and «Collaboration». The event provided an opportunity to showcase youth success stories and challenges and allowed for interaction with key stakeholders to discuss new ideas for countering the climate change.

Narikbayev KAZGUU University hosted a guest lecture of United Nations Resident Coordinator for Kazakhstan

On September 19, 2022, Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey, UN Resident Coordinator for Kazakhstan, delivered a lecture to students at M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University on the UN’s role in promoting multilateralism and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Kazakhstan and worldwide. She emphasized Kazakhstan’s active involvement in regional security and its link to sustainable development, along with its status as a dependable UN partner over 30 years. Concluding her talk, Ms. Friberg-Storey encouraged students to advocate passionately and creatively, contributing to the realization of the 2030 Agenda and a better world.
