MNU HELD A MEETING WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE SUPREME JUDICIAL COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

On December 27, 2024, Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) held a meeting with the delegation of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was aimed at demonstrating the Supreme Judicial Council’s activities, informing students and participants of the meeting about the process of becoming a judge, as well as raising the awareness of professional requirements and opportunities in the judicial system.

The Supreme Judicial Council is an autonomous state body that ensures the exercise of the President’s constitutional powers in the judicial system, guaranteeing the independence of judges and their inviolability. During the meeting, Dmitriy Malakhov, Chairman of the Council, emphasised that almost all personnel issues regarding judges, including the training of candidates and professional development of current judges, fall within the competence of the Council. Meetings with universities that train legal personnel are therefore held to promote the work of the Council and raise awareness among future lawyers.

‘Maqsut Narikbayev University is one of the leading universities in the country, holding leading positions in national and international rankings. The university, founded in 1994 by the Decree of the Head of State, became a key institution of legal education and legal reform’, — said Dmitry Malakhov.

He also highlighted the university’s highly qualified faculty, which includes the authors of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Civil Code, as well as scientific works and textbooks.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of MNU Talgat Narikbayev; Provost Sergey Pen; members of the Supreme Judicial Council Nuriya Sisenova, Askerbek Zhakulin, Ernar Begaliyev, Gafur Sharof; as well as Vice-Rector of the Academy of Justice Kanat Musin, and Deputy Head of the Council’s Chief Office, Laura Kurmantayeva.

This event marked another step towards strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions and government bodies in order to improve the level of professional training of future lawyers.
