International Academic mobility

Academic mobility is the travel of students to study or conduct research for a certain academic period: a semester or an academic year to another higher educational institution (within the country or abroad) with mandatory transfer of completed educational programs in the form of credits at their university.

• Bachelor's degree students who have completed at least 60 ECTS credits;
• Master's and doctoral degree students.

• Select a university from the list provided;
• Check their website, the list of disciplines;
• Ask the advisor to help you decide if any of these universities are appropriate for your MNU curriculum;
• Notify your parents;
• Fill out the questionnaire and collect all the necessary documents;

List of required documents:
• a student's application form (download);
• copy of the international passport;
• transcript of academic progress for the current year of study (Russian and English);
• international certificate confirming the level of foreign language proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, Duolingo);
• completed application form (download);
• letters of recommendation in Kazakh, Russian or English languages of your choice (if available);
• copies of diplomas, certificates, diplomas in the chosen field of study, received for participation in the event of national or international level (if available);
• copies of documents confirming the fact of belonging to the following categories of individuals, if available: a document on family members, to confirm that the student's family has many children, a document confirming that the student has missing parents (for the category of students who are orphans or students left without parental care), a document confirming disability.

Documents for ALL programmes must be completed and sent via Smart MNU. In addition, the electronic version must be submitted to room 213 (on a USB flash drive) before the deadline.

Students must provide an IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, Duolingo certificate at application stage. However, in some cases a certificate is not required.

Students can receive an Erasmus+ Scholarship to study at MNU's partner universities, with which a cooperation agreement has been signed within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
Also, students can win a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for academic mobility. Financing is provided from the republican budget and includes: flight, accommodation (hostel or apartment), visa fees and medical insurance.

• The level of English language proficiency should be at least B2 on the European scale (Upper-intermediate), because Most programs in foreign universities are conducted in English. However, the student can choose a different language of instruction (if possible);
• The GPA depends on the university, but not less than 2.5;
• The correspondence of the direction of study at a foreign university to the direction of study of a student at MNU. When choosing courses, it is necessary to coordinate an individual training plan with the adviser and the dean of the Higher School.

• Due to the cooperation agreements between foreign universities and MNU, tuition fees at the host university are not charged (there are exceptions). But the payment is charged at MNU according to the agreements concluded between the student and the university. Exceptions are only for students who are enrolled in the Erasmus+ program.
• Visa processing, medical insurance, transportation, accommodation, meals and other personal expenses are covered by the student himself.

Prior to departure, the student must:
• submit a 072 medical certificate, a signed ‘Awareness Sheet’, and a notarised parental consent to participate in the academic mobility programme to the International Cooperation Department (office 213);
• estimate the budget, namely the costs of transport, accommodation, meals and other personal expenses. It is worth noting that if you receive a scholarship, payments may not be made immediately, but after a certain period of time.
• resolve visa issues; passport must be valid. Expired passports or passports that are not valid enough for visa processing are not allowed. To find detailed information, use the information on the websites of the embassy/consulate/visa centre, i.e. where you will obtain your visa;
• be aware of the deadlines for online registration with the host university and for applying for accommodation.

Upon arrival at a foreign university, a student must:
• register for consular registration at the Embassy of Kazakhstan. Contacts of Kazakhstan embassies abroad can be found through the link (https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mfa/page/contacts/kontakty-posolstv-kazahstana-za-rubezhom?lang=ru );
• find out all the necessary information about the learning process (class and exam schedules);
• get information about the campus;
• get acquainted with the coordinators;
• sign the Learning Agreement in the International Department of the partner university and send the scanned version to the International Cooperation Department email mobility@kazguu.kz.

Yes, but with the consent of the Dean of the School. The extension of the study period is possible only during the same academic year and only if it does not apply to the last semester before graduation.

ERASMUS+ is a European Union program aimed at supporting cooperation in the fields of education, vocational training, youth and sports.
One of the main directions of the ERASMUS+ program in higher education is the direction KA1: Learning/Credit Mobility of Individuals — mobility for students and teachers. The European Commission allocates grants to each participant of the program.
