The construction of a new park has been launched at Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU). Large-scale landscaping works are carried out as part of the nationwide campaign “Taza Kazakhstan”.
Today, students, teachers and staff of the university took part in a city clean-up and carried out tree planting. The event was organized jointly with the Akimat of the Nura district of Astana. An important event was the start of work on the reconstruction of Themis Square, which will become a public garden.
«Maqsut Narikbayev University supports the nationwide campaign “Taza Kazakhstan”, initiated by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and conducts a number of environmental events. Today, on the day of the city clean-up, we planted trees, thereby launching the large-scale construction of a park in front of our university. I am sure that the new square will become one of the most beautiful spaces in the capital and a place of attraction for the younger generation. This is our contribution to creating a comfortable urban environment», -said Talgat Narikbayev, Chairman of the Board of MNU.
Talgat Narikbayev emphasized, the construction work is scheduled to be completed in July this year. The large-scale renovation and landscaping project includes the planting of about 200 trees, more than 10,000 deciduous and coniferous shrubs, and about 2,500 plants. In addition, it provides for the creation of a venue for events and recreation, a coworking area, the installation of small architectural forms and benches, lawn laying, etc.
«The Nurа District Akimat closely cooperates with MNU. Thanks to your initiative, landscaping and greening of the university’s territory are underway. Looking at the reconstruction project, this square is set to become one of the best in Astana — we truly believe in it. Let’s work together to make our city clean and green», -said Rishat Turdybekov, Akim of the Nura district of Astana.
It should be noted that the total area of landscaping is almost 11.4 thousand square meters.
