Students from the International School of Economics at Maqsut Narikbayev University secured first place at the Risk Management Case Championship. The “Risk Management Case Competition 2025” was held for undergraduate and postgraduate students from higher education institutions across the country. The event was organised by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market in collaboration with the Kazakh-British Technical University.
The Risk Management Case Competition serves as an intellectual platform where aspiring professionals showcase their critical thinking, creativity, and capacity to develop innovative solutions in the field of risk management and modelling. The primary objective of the championship was to tackle a real-world task: the development of anti-fraud models using machine learning techniques. This challenge demanded a comprehensive approach involving data analysis, algorithm optimisation, and ensuring high model accuracy in practical applications.
As a result, the MNU “Blue Ocean” team emerged as the top performers among 81 teams representing 21 universities. Second place was shared by teams from IITU and KBTU. Additionally, MNU students earned bronze medals as part of the “BIG4” team, which also included participants from AITU and Nazarbayev University.
It is worth noting that the winners were awarded a grant to take the international FRM 1 exam and received invitations for professional internships at second-tier banks.
