The Themis Square on the campus of Maqsut Narikbayev University has become a new attraction and a symbol of transformation. Large-scale landscaping was carried out as part of the nationwide campaign “Taza Qazaqstan”.
The greening and creation of this new public space took place during the spring–summer season of the current year. The project included the planting of around 200 trees, more than 10,000 deciduous and coniferous shrubs, and approximately 2,500 other plants. The initiative was supported by the Akimat of Astana and KAZ Minerals Group.
“Our university supports the nationwide Taza Qazaqstan campaign initiated by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Themis Square has become a symbol of renewal and a new place of attraction. Creating a comfortable environment for our students is of utmost importance, and now they will have the opportunity to study and relax in a green atmosphere. We also encourage other organisations to join this campaign and contribute to shaping a welcoming urban environment,” said Talgat Narikbayev, Chairman of the Board of MNU.
The square is also complemented by event and leisure areas, co-working spaces, and small architectural features. The total landscaped area covers almost 11,400 square metres.
