Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted a roundtable on Youth Contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals for Future Generations. Experts, activists, and students explored pressing issues affecting the rights and interests of young citizens.
The TED Talk-style event was dedicated to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly and marked the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth. Participants addressed a wide range of topics, including the impact of harmful online content, the challenges posed by artificial intelligence to the labour market, water diplomacy, drug prevention, and youth reproductive health. The roundtable was organised in partnership with the UN Youth Council and the Erkindik Rukhy Youth Rights Commission under the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“When young people are included in dialogue and decision-making, progress on the Sustainable Development Goals accelerates significantly. Young people in Kazakhstan most often raise issues such as safe and supportive digital environments, skills and jobs of the future including digital literacy, water diplomacy and climate action at the city and regional level, health and well-being with a focus on access to information, and participation in decision-making from schools to national agendas,” noted Sarangoo Radnaaragchaa, UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan.
Maqsut Narikbayev University continues to support the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and actively works to expand its contribution to achieving the SDGs.
