Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted a meeting between students and Yesset Bayken, Deputy Akim of Astana. Participants discussed the key priorities outlined by the Head of State in his Address to the People of Kazakhstan.
The meeting focused on the country’s strategic directions, emphasising digitalisation, technological breakthroughs, the role of artificial intelligence in modern education, and the development of the legal system. On 8 September, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered his Address entitled Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Solutions through Digital Transformation.

“The strategic objective set by the Head of State—to join the ranks of the world’s thirty most developed nations—cannot be achieved without major advances in education and high technology. It is crucial to stimulate the development of artificial intelligence and innovation across all areas of public and economic life. I believe that with the support of our youth, we will achieve this goal,” stressed Yesset Bayken, Deputy Akim of Astana.
In turn, Aliya Orazbayeva, Director of the MNU Institute for Constitutional and Political Research, and Ester Babajanyan, Adjunct Assistant Professor at MNU, presented an analysis of international practices in integrating AI into academic processes. They highlighted areas such as personalised learning, automated assessment, research facilitation, and academic support. The speakers underlined that the university is actively studying best global practices with the aim of adapting them to its own work.
As part of MNU’s ongoing management transformation, a new division combining science, innovation, and artificial intelligence has been established within the academic structure. Recently, Sergey Pen was appointed Deputy Chairman of the MNU Board for Science, Innovation and AI.
