Legal Literature Translation Project into Kazakh Discussed in Almaty

A meeting took place in Almaty between Emeritus Professor of Maqsut Narikbayev University and Administrator of the Educational and Methodological Association in Law, Zhannetta Kalisheva, and the leadership of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU). The parties discussed the implementation of a joint project aimed at translating legal literature into the state language.

Zhannetta Kalisheva held talks with First Vice-Rector of KazNU Erkin Duisenov and Dean of the Faculty of Law Ualikhan Akhatov. During the meeting, a project focused on translating leading international legal publications into Kazakh was presented, as well as developing modern textbooks authored by domestic scholars and educators. Zhannetta Kalisheva also met with the university’s academic staff to introduce the concept of a new publishing initiative.

Representatives of the Almaty university supported the initiative and expressed their readiness for joint activities. KazNU was also included in the work to form a consortium of universities participating in the project. Members of the working group of the Educational and Methodological Association plan to establish a unified funding mechanism for the project, noting that its implementation will represent a significant step forward in advancing legal education in Kazakhstan and strengthening the role of the state language within academia.

It should be noted that Maqsut Narikbayev University serves as the lead institution for the project on translating legal literature into Kazakh.
