BACHELOR OF ARTS IN “6В02302 – APPLIED LINGUISTICS”
The Applied Linguistics Educational Programme is aimed to train a versatile, multi skilled specialist in applied linguistics with language proficiency in two foreign languages, sound knowledge of research methodology, able to apply contemporary approaches to teaching foreign languages, to render high quality translation and interpretation, possessing skills of editing and media writing.
The Applied Linguistics programme is designed in accordance with the State Compulsory Education Standard of the Republic of Kazakhstan, incorporating global best practices and current labour market demands for specialists in applied linguistics.
The curriculum aligns with modern industry needs, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for careers in language technology, translation, linguistic research, and foreign language teaching.
The programme has been reviewed and endorsed by the Business Council of the School of Liberal Arts (SLA), which includes both foreign and Kazakhstani experts from the fields of linguistics and foreign language education.
The programme is available in two study formats:
Full-time (4 years) – Requires 248 academic credits and is designed for students entering with secondary education.
Accelerated (3 years) – Designed for students with secondary vocational education, allowing them to complete 192 academic credits by re-crediting relevant coursework from college.
Students have the flexibility to design their own individual study plan, tailoring their education to their career aspirations. A detailed catalogue of the SLA is available through the School of Liberal Arts (SLA) for further guidance.
