On February 10, 2024, students of Maqsut Narikbayev University took first place at the Asia Zangeri Regional Moot Court Competition, organized by Fortune Partners. This is one of the largest national law moot court competitions, bringing together lawyers, legal consultants, representatives of consulting firms, and judges from all regions of Kazakhstan.
The case problem of the tournament covered three areas of law — civil, administrative, and criminal — allowing participants to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and practical legal skills.
A total of 170 teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan took part in the competition, of which only 63 teams advanced to the oral rounds. The tournament was held in both Kazakh and Russian languages. The oral rounds consisted of two stages — preliminary rounds and the final. The preliminary rounds were judged by representatives of the Union of Youth Arbitration Judges (СМАС), while the semifinals and finals were held at the Supreme Court under the chairmanship of judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The final was evaluated by a panel of three Supreme Court judges.
Two teams from Maqsut Narikbayev University’s Jurisprudence program reached the final. The first team — Miras Sailauov, Nazerke Bektemir, and Diana Qakharman — competed in the Kazakh language. The second team — Zulkhainar Kozhumratov, Aldabergen Tegisbayev, and Zangar Amangeldinov — competed in Russian.
As a result of the final, both MNU teams took first place, each receiving a prize fund of 1.5 million tenge, confirming the high level of student preparation and the effectiveness of the educational programs of the Faculty of Law.
