On February 17, 2024, the team of the Higher School of Law at Maqsut Narikbayev University achieved a confident victory at the National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition — the most prestigious international tournament in public international law.
The competition was held among the leading law schools of Kazakhstan and included several stages of preliminary and final rounds. In the preliminary rounds, the MNU team successfully competed against teams from SDU, KIMEP, and Narxoz, winning four out of four matches and advancing to the final.
In the decisive round, the students once again faced the Narxoz University team and reaffirmed their leadership, earning the title of Champions of Kazakhstan in International Law.
A special pride of the university is Meruert Zhadrenova, a third-year student of the International Law program, who was awarded the title of Best Oralist of the Kazakhstan Rounds.
The winning team consisted of Aruzhan Assilbekova, Ayazhan Kazibekova, Meruert Zhadrenova, Ayana Omirzak, and Rakhimbek Konlimkos. The team was coached by Askar Tazhanov and Ramazan Kokzhalov.
The victory of the Maqsut Narikbayev University team at the Jessup Moot Court Competition once again confirmed the students’ high level of preparation and the university’s recognition on the international academic stage.
