Maqsut Narikbayev University welcomed Andrea Bacher, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to Kazakhstan, who delivered a lecture as part of the Applied Diplomacy course.
Andrea Bacher spoke about the role of diplomacy in the twenty-first century and how it differs from foreign policy. She shared key insights on protocol and etiquette, and highlighted the ongoing development of Kazakh-Austrian relations. The Ambassador also answered questions from students of the International Relations programme.
“I always enjoy visiting MNU. The university has a beautiful building and a wonderful library. The students are open-minded and truly proactive. To future diplomats, I recommend travelling abroad more often and gaining diverse experience. It is important to engage with people from different cultures and make use of every opportunity,” said Andrea Bacher.
Austria remains one of Kazakhstan’s leading trade partners in Central Europe.
