Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted a meeting between students and members of YPO Kazakhstan. Prominent business leaders shared insights from the development of their companies and discussed the future of entrepreneurship.
The speakers included Rauan Kenzhekhanuly (founder of Bilim Media Group and Chair of YPO Kazakhstan), Askhat Omarov (co-owner of BI Group), Samat Daumov (Partner and Head of the GRATA International office in Astana and MNU alumnus), Baurzhan Turmatov (founder of BAUNER), and Nurasyl Zharbassov (Chairman of the Board of Directors of DEM Group). They spoke about global and local business trends, shared personal case studies and recommendations for developing companies in real economic conditions, and reflected on leadership and entrepreneurial thinking. The speakers also answered students’ questions.
Particular attention was drawn to the presentation of the YPO Kazakhstan casebook, which features 38 real business cases from Kazakhstani entrepreneurs. The speakers emphasised that leading global business schools rely on international cases, whereas Kazakhstani students need a body of domestic case materials that reflects the local context, market specifics, and real stories of national companies. Ten copies of the book were presented to active participants of the meeting.
“I had a very positive impression of MNU. I saw in the students’ eyes a healthy ambition and a thirst for success. I believe these are the essential qualities that will help them find their path in life. We are ready to continue these open conversations on a regular basis. I wish the students to enjoy the moment and embrace learning,” said Askhat Omarov.
