The International Legathon MaxUP is a unique platform for students and young professionals to demonstrate their knowledge, exchange experience, and propose relevant solutions to legal challenges. As part of the competition, participants will explore the impact of new technologies on the legal system, principles of law, ethics, and human rights. They will also work on real legal cases related to artificial intelligence, digital compliance, and cross-border regulation.
The competition will be held in two language leagues (Russian and English). Each university may form one team of five members (four law students and one accompanying team leader) and compete for valuable prizes. Applications are accepted on the website maxup.kz until January 31, 2026.
It is worth noting that the best selected teams will receive full funding of expenses (travel, accommodation, and meals). In addition, participants will gain practical experience, mentorship from industry experts, and the opportunity to showcase themselves on the international stage. The information partner of the competition is the international company Baker McKenzie.
As a reminder, the first International Legathon MaxUP, which brought together nine teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan, was held in April last year. The event was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Honorary Rector of MNU, statesman and public figure Maqsut Narikbayev. The winners of the competition were students of the Russian National Research University Higher School of Economics.
