School students and university students in the capital celebrated the approaching Spring Festival (Chinese New Year). A festive concert was held at Maqsut Narikbayev University in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kazakhstan.
The event brought together more than 200 school students, university students, and teachers from Astana. Young participants actively studying the Chinese language showcased musical, dance, and artistic performances. The festive program featured creative compositions reflecting cultural diversity and a dialogue of traditions between the two countries.

“Today, school students and university students have come together here, for whom learning the Chinese language is not only about education, but also about discovering China’s rich culture and history. This concert clearly demonstrates how language becomes a bridge between people. May the coming New Year bring harmony, new opportunities, and further strengthening of friendship between our nations,” said Sergey Pen, Vice Chairman of the MNU Board for Science, Innovation, and Artificial Intelligence.
Sergey Pen also noted that MNU maintains productive cooperation with Chinese partners. In addition, the Chinese language remains in high demand among university students, with approximately 300 students currently studying it.

“Chun Jie is a day of family unity and harmony, a symbol of spring and good hope for future life among the Chinese people. This is also echoed in a Kazakh proverb: ‘When the breath of spring rises, the fire of hope burns.’ I am very pleased to meet teachers and students who are passionate about learning the Chinese language. I would like to thank MNU and all participants for organizing this wonderful event,” said Han Chunlin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that the Spring Festival is included in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This year, Chinese New Year will be celebrated on February 17.
