At Maqsut Narikbayev University, the memory of the outstanding scholar and academician Salyk Zimanov was honored. To mark the 105th anniversary of the University’s Honorary Rector, a scientific and educational event titled Zimanov Readings: Thoughts Ahead of Their Time was held.
Students and faculty of MNU discussed the scholar’s legal legacy and his contribution to the formation and development of Kazakhstan’s legal foundations. Participants delivered substantive presentations highlighting the academician’s high professional competence, scientific courage, and his special role in the establishment of the national school of legal scholarship. The professor’s works were also presented during the event.
“Salyk Zimanov’s philosophical assertions have not lost their relevance. His reflections on law and the state acquire new meaning in the context of the legal development of independent Kazakhstan. They also resonate with contemporary reforms. Every word of his is a conclusion that has stood the test of time. Today, his ideas serve as a spiritual and ideological guiding star that provides direction to society,” noted Ramazan Nurtayev, Emeritus Professor of MNU.
It is worth noting that Salyk Zimanov was the first Doctor of Law among Kazakh scholars. His academic works, such as “The Political System of Kazakhstan at the End of the 18th Century,” “The Constitution and Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” and “The Political Views of Shokan Ualikhanov,” among others, have become part of the “golden fund” of legal scholarship.
