A two-day workshop by the British accreditation agency QAA was held at Maqsut Narikbayev University. Education experts explored methods for recruiting and supporting international students within partnership programs.
The event brought together representatives from around 15 domestic universities. Participants discussed practical approaches to developing strategies for attracting international students, as well as mechanisms for assessing and improving the quality of services provided to international applicants. In addition, British experts offered recommendations on effective cooperation with international recruitment agencies.
“Kazakhstan is steadily strengthening its position as an international education hub in Central Asia. The state is developing academic mobility, expanding cooperation with foreign partners, and promoting the mutual recognition of qualifications. Amid the active development of such programs, ensuring high-quality education and reliable academic oversight mechanisms becomes especially important. Workshops like this provide a valuable platform for exchanging experience, discussing practical challenges, and identifying effective approaches to attracting and supporting international students within transnational education programs,” said MNU Provost Anar Ibrayeva.
Meanwhile, QAA expert Sarah Hunter emphasized that the workshop also aims to strengthen Kazakhstan’s reputation as an attractive destination for international education. It is worth noting that QAA is one of the leading international agencies for quality assurance in higher education. Two years ago, MNU became the first university in the CIS and Central Asia to receive institutional accreditation from this agency.
