Ernar Taizhan, Official Representative of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring, delivered a guest lecture at Maqsut Narikbayev University. He spoke to students about the importance of improving financial literacy and shared methods for protecting against fraudulent schemes.
Ernar Taizhan explained the key areas of the agency’s work, placing particular emphasis on preventive activities within the framework of the “Law and Order” principle, as well as measures aimed at preventing financial offenses. According to him, last year initiatives to enhance financial literacy reached more than seven million citizens belonging to at-risk groups. In addition, the agency’s representative shared the results of implemented projects and initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of financial security in society.
“The Financial Monitoring Agency actively cooperates with Maqsut Narikbayev University. The university supports our initiatives, and students are actively involved in projects, including participation in the National Financial Security Olympiad. They complete internships in the agency’s departments, contribute to our work, and often go on to become our colleagues. I would also like to highlight the high level of student training — they come to us already well-prepared and competent specialists. We highly value this partnership and look forward to its further development”, – Ernar Taizhan emphasized.
The topic of common fraud schemes sparked particular interest among the audience. Ernar Taizhan elaborated on the most relevant methods of deception faced by citizens, and also shared specific cases and protection mechanisms against such threats. Students asked the speaker a number of questions and proposed their own ideas for improving financial literacy and combating fraud.
It should be noted that the lecture was held as part of the Public Relations course. During the course, students of the International School of Journalism meet with PR professionals, work on real cases from their organizations, and develop their own PR strategies. It is worth recalling that earlier, within the framework of cooperation with the Financial Monitoring Agency, MNU launched an additional specialization titled Financial Intelligence and Financial Security.
