Advisors office

Academic advising is an integral part of the educational process. The academic support of students in the process of their studies at Maqsut Narikbayev University is provided by the office of advisors, which is created in each School. Each advisor is assigned a certain number of students. Academic advising is a joint work of the adviser and the student.

In this joint work, the advisor must:

• – Know the requirements of the educational programme, policies and procedures of Maqsut Narikbayev University and the School;
• – Assist in the formation of the student’s future professional orientation and competencies, to discuss the relationship between academic training and the student’s life goals, his future career;
• – Provide students with relevant and necessary information about the requirements of Maqsut Narikbayev University, the School and Program;
• – Assist students in planning the educational trajectory for each semester of the academic year, making decisions when choosing disciplines;
• – Provide assistance in orientation and adaptation to the educational process;
• – Assist students in planning their study time;
• – Represent the academic interests of students before the administration of Maqsut Narikbayev University;
• – Track the progress of the students assigned to him;
• – Be accessible to students by maintaining sufficient office hours and reception times that are reasonable to meet the needs of students (reception schedule and meetings with students);
• – Be attentive to the individual needs of individual students.

The student must:

• – Know the policy, the catalogue and other regulatory documents of Maqsut Narikbayev University, the School and programmes related to their studies;
• – Plan the study programme to fulfill the conditions for obtaining an academic degree;
• – Know their learning outcomes, credits earned and grades received;
• – Monitor and timely receive up-to-date information regarding their study process and stay at Maqsut Narikbayev University, posted on the official sources of Maqsut Narikbayev University (website, AIS Platon, Canvas LMS, etc.);
• – Understand their own responsibility for making decisions regarding personal goals and objectives in the field of education, as well as to meet the graduation requirements of Maqsut Narikbayev University;
• – Take personal initiative and actively participate in consultations and planning their learning process.
