Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted a discussion on promoting academic integrity within the higher education system. The meeting brought together Talgat Narikbayev, Chairman of the Academic Integrity League Council, and Darkhan Zhazykbay, Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs.
The parties addressed ways to strengthen the principles of academic integrity and promote the value of honest work among students. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring integrity in the era of artificial intelligence and on developing effective monitoring tools through new technologies. Participants also exchanged views on improving admission procedures, examinations, and assessment methods in educational institutions.
As a result of the meeting, the sides agreed to implement joint projects aimed at safeguarding academic integrity, fostering critical thinking among students, and introducing new approaches to ensure fair evaluation. It was noted that earlier a Memorandum on Academic Integrity in Education was signed between the Academic Integrity League, the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Ministries of Science and Higher Education as well as Education. Following the reorganisation of the Anti-Corruption Agency, this work will now be continued by the Agency for Civil Service Affairs.
The Academic Integrity League was established in 2018 at the initiative of Maqsut Narikbayev University. Since then, it has positioned itself as a key institution in advancing ethical standards and fostering a fair and transparent educational environment. Today, more than 20 Kazakhstani universities are members of the League.
