Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) once again welcomed the Ambassador of Republic of Finland to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, H.E. Janne Heiskanen. This time, the Ambassador gave a lecture to future diplomats.
During his talk, Janne Heiskanen spoke about Finland’s foreign policy, the country’s transformation over the past century, and its active role in international organizations. He also discussed Finland’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality. In addition, he engaged with students of the International Relations programme, answering their questions. The lecture was held as part of the special course Applied Diplomacy.
“This is my first time giving a lecture at MNU, although I have visited the university before and was impressed by the atmosphere. It is a high-level institution. The students showed genuine interest and asked thoughtful questions. I believe we had a very good discussion. If I am invited again, I would be delighted to return and meet with the students,” said Ambassador Heiskanen.
Finland remains one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Northern Europe and the European Union. Just last week in New York, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with the President of Finland Alexander Stubb.
