Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) has held its first graduation ceremony for the master’s programme in Intellectual Property and Business Law. The programme, launched last year in partnership with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), marks a significant step in the development of legal education in this field.
Over the course of one year, 18 professionals from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, and Tanzania studied subjects such as copyright and patent law, trademarks, innovation commercialisation, international business law, and more. The programme’s faculty included lecturers from MNU, the WIPO Academy, and universities in the United Kingdom and Singapore.
During MNU’s 30th anniversary graduation ceremony, Provost Sergey Pen and Vice-Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Daniyel Vaissov, awarded diplomas to the graduates.
“I congratulate all graduates on receiving their diplomas. I hope this knowledge will enable you to become leading experts in the field of law. As you know, WIPO is an international organisation that sets the standards for intellectual property protection. The Ministry of Justice, as the authorised body in this sphere, places great importance on developing human resources and training legal professionals in this area,” said Daniyel Vaissov.
It is worth noting that Maqsut Narikbayev University currently offers 16 postgraduate programmes. This year, 130 students received their master’s degrees.
