Students at Maqsut Narikbayev University attended a master class titled “Media Adaptation: How to Cover Climate Risks”. The event took place as part of support for the National Adaptation Plan project aimed at ensuring sustainable development and addressing climate change.
Students from the journalism faculties of MNU, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and Astana IT University took part in the master class. Experts in international communications, winners of journalism competitions, and climate analysts conducted a detailed review of the best publications on biodiversity and spoke about the role of media and communications in covering climate risks. They also demonstrated the possibilities of using artificial intelligence tools when preparing journalistic materials.

“Discussing climate risks today requires journalists not only to have the ability to explain complex issues in simple terms, but also the skills to work with large amounts of data. The main challenge now is to navigate the flow of information in order to responsibly convey facts to an audience that makes decisions and influences the world. I am confident that the experience of practicing experts and the new networking opportunities will be extremely useful for all future journalists,” emphasized Aigul Zhamalova, Dean of the International School of Journalism at MNU.
It should be noted that the master class was organized jointly with the UNDP Office in Kazakhstan, Qazcontent JSC, and the Green Climate Fund. As a result of the event, students developed practical skills that will help them provide high-quality information to society about global climate challenges.
