Maqsut Narikbayev University welcomed Her Excellency Monika Iversen, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kazakhstan. During her visit, Ambassador Iversen delivered a lecture to future diplomats.
She spoke about the specifics of diplomatic service and the development of relations between Astana and Berlin. Her lecture took place within the framework of the special course Applied Diplomacy. The Ambassador noted the students’ keen interest, engagement, and awareness, and shared valuable professional insights.
“In their career, diplomats will face diverse situations and challenges. It is essential to remain flexible, open-minded, genuinely curious, and able to listen to different perspectives. These skills help convey one’s position, find common ground, and foster professional growth,” said Monika Iversen.
In addition, MNU hosted a joint exhibition with the Embassy of Germany in Kazakhstan titled Reconsidering: The GDR in the Culture of Remembrance. The exhibition invited visitors to reflect on the activities of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and to consider the similarities and differences between the historical experience of the German Democratic Republic and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
