
Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted guest lectures by leading international experts. Students had the opportunity to hear from Isabelle Lonvis-Rome, Ambassador for Human Rights of France, and Anna Quintin, Head of the Global Initiative on International Humanitarian Law at the International Committee of the Red Cross.
In her lecture on Feminism in Diplomacy, Isabelle Lonvis-Rome shared her views on the impact of feminist principles on diplomacy and international cooperation. She spoke about France’s strong commitment to gender equality, the empowerment of women in decision-making processes, and the integration of gender perspectives into human rights policies. The speaker also engaged with students during a Q&A session.
Anna Quintin discussed current challenges facing the international humanitarian law system. She explored with students pressing issues related to contemporary conflicts and the protection of humanitarian principles. It is noteworthy that Kazakhstan was among the six countries that launched a global initiative in 2024 to strengthen political commitment to international humanitarian law.
