
Maqsut Narikbayev University hosted guest lectures by leading international experts. Students had the opportunity to hear from Isabelle Lonvis-Rome, Ambassador for Human Rights of France, and Anna Quintin, Head of the Global Initiative on International Humanitarian Law at the International Committee of the Red Cross.
In her lecture Feminism in Diplomacy, Isabelle Lonvis-Rome spoke about France’s commitment to gender equality. She also spoke about advancing women’s rights and participation in decision-making, as well as integrating a gender perspective into human rights policy. The speaker also engaged with students during a Q&A session
Anna Quintin discussed current challenges facing the international humanitarian law system. She explored with students pressing issues related to contemporary conflicts and the protection of humanitarian principles. It is noteworthy that Kazakhstan was among the six countries that launched a global initiative in 2024 to strengthen political commitment to international humanitarian law.
