The 30th anniversary graduation ceremony was held at Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU). A solemn event with the participation of more than two thousand people took place at the newly opened Themis Square in front of the university building.
A total of 828 students graduated from MNU this year, including 698 bachelor’s degree holders and 130 master’s degree holders. The largest number of young professionals graduated from the MNU Law School (271 bachelor’s and 69 master’s degrees). The graduates were congratulated by Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“For 30 years, Maqsut Narikbayev University has become a golden stronghold of legal education — we all acknowledge this. My congratulations go first and foremost to the parents of our graduates. You can rest assured: MNU ranks among the top universities in graduate employability. Its alumni are working in leading companies, and we are glad to see them in public service,” said Sayasat Nurbek.

The event was also attended by representatives of government agencies, members of Parliament, media outlets, university leadership and faculty, MNU partners, and relatives of the graduates. The graduation ceremony was held at the new Themis Square, opened as part of the nationwide campaign — Taza Qazaqstan, initiated by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The large-scale landscaping project included the planting of around 200 trees, more than 10,000 deciduous and coniferous shrubs, approximately 2,500 plants, the creation of venues for events and recreation, coworking areas, and the installation of small architectural features.

“The new square has become a symbol of renewal and growth — just like our graduates, who are stepping into a bright new chapter today. Today is more than just a date on the calendar. It marks a journey we have taken together. Over the years, our university has trained thousands of professionals, leaders, and innovators. The 30th graduating class proudly continues this historic legacy,” said Talgat Narikbayev, Chairman of the Board of MNU.
A special focus of the event was the awarding of diplomas to 25 graduates specialising in Journalism: Analytics and Investigations. The programme was launched four years ago with the support of the Ministry of Information and Public Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (now the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan), and in 2023, in partnership with the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International School of Journalism was established. In addition, graduates who demonstrated significant academic and extracurricular achievements were specially recognised.
“Over the past four years, MNU has given me more than just academic knowledge — it provided invaluable mentorship and opened doors to real-world experiences. I had the opportunity to intern at leading companies and take part in various case championships that pushed me to grow both professionally and personally. Such experiences at MNU taught us to stay resilient, embrace challenges, and believe in ourselves — qualities that continue to guide me today as I build my career at PwC, one of the Big Four audit firms,” said Bakyt Sakishova, a graduate of MNU.

Maqsut Narikbayev University offers more than 30 educational programmes, holds prestigious international accreditations, and demonstrates high graduate employment rates. MNU’s mission is to serve society by providing high-quality and affordable education. The event concluded with a performance by Kazakh pop star Batyrkhan Malikov (ALEM) and a festive fireworks display.
