MNU HOSTED A STRATEGIC SESSION ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A CONCEPT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEGAL EDUCATION

From May 21 to 23, 2024, Maqsut Narikbayev University became a platform for a session organized by the Educational and Methodological Association in the field of “Law”.
The opening of the Strategic Session on the development of the Concept for the development of legal education within the framework of the EMU in the field of “Law”, organized by the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education, took place at Maqsut Narikbayev University. This session was devoted to the discussion and development of a new Concept for the Development of Legal Education in Kazakhstan.
The goal of the Strategic Session is to create a unified Concept that will determine the main directions and priorities for the development of legal education in the coming years.
The session was attended by leading experts in the field of law, representatives of the academic community, experts in the educational sphere and government agencies, as well as representatives of 52 universities and departmental educational institutions: the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Academy of Justice under the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Our mission sounds like this: we are all here at the university, serving people, society, by providing high-quality, accessible education. This is our mission. We believe that we are here for a reason. In the future, our students will apply their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society,” said Talgat Narikbayev, Chairman of the EMU in the field of Law.
Gulzhan Dzharasova, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said in her speech that the document that they will develop during the three-day session will be submitted to the Republican Educational and Methodological Council for approval in June. She also noted that this document will become a reference book for every university that has taken on the responsibility of training personnel for the legal field.

During the session, participants discussed all the key problems and challenges facing the legal education system, and will also propose specific steps to solve them. Particular attention was paid to issues of improving the quality of legal education, modernizing educational programs and introducing innovative teaching methods.
“I think that over these three days you have spent your time productively, studied and worked fruitfully, exchanged opinions and developed a project document that reflects all your ideas and defines further development paths,” the Chairman of the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulzat Izbasarovna Kobenova addressed the participants at the end of the session.
Following the session, the participants were awarded certificates of completion of the session, signed by the Chairman of the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The results of the Strategic Session will be taken into account when forming the final version of the Concept, which will become an important document for the development of legal education in the country.
