Chairman of the Board of Maqsut Narikbayev University, Talgat Narikbayev, took part in the expert forum “New Constitution: A New Architecture of Trust and Development.” The event was held last Saturday in Astana.
The expert platform brought together deputies of the Mazhilis of Parliament, members of the Constitutional Commission, representatives of government bodies, the academic community, and civil society institutions. They discussed the key provisions of the draft new Constitution and its significance for the country’s development. The event was organized by the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Institute of Public Policy of the Amanat Party.
Talgat Narikbayev spoke during a panel session dedicated to new institutions, accountability mechanisms, and constitutional oversight. The university head elaborated on the potential of the supreme consultative body the People’s Council of Kazakhstan is given a separate section in the draft of the new Basic Law. He emphasized the great importance of this institution, which is granted the right of legislative initiative, for the entire civil society.
It should be noted that professors of Maqsut Narikbayev University, Unzila Shapak and Indira Aubakirova, also spoke at the expert forum. The event demonstrated a high level of professional discussion and broad expert engagement in reviewing the draft of the new Basic Law. Earlier, an expert meeting dedicated to discussing the new Constitution was also held at MNU.
