On February 17, 2024, at the Project Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a presentation was held for the draft law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Regulation of Collective Labor Relations.”
The draft law was developed by professors of the Scientific School of Labor Law at Maqsut Narikbayev University and became the first legislative initiative of the newly established research institute MIND (Maqsut Narikbayev Institute for New Democracy). The proposed draft aims to modernize the system of collective labor relations in Kazakhstan, including improving the legal regulation of freedom of association, strengthening the mechanisms of social partnership, and increasing the efficiency of labor dispute resolution procedures.
Particular attention in the document is given to the development of trade union institutions and to fostering interaction between employees, employers, and state bodies in order to strengthen social stability and fairness in the labor market. The presentation generated significant interest among representatives of the legislative and executive branches, trade union organizations, and the academic community, marking an important step toward the renewal of the country’s labor legislation.
