On February 6, an exciting guest lecture from Visit Shymkent was organised for students of the Tourism and Hospitality educational programmes. The event became not only an opportunity for students to immerse into the tourism industry, but also an important step in enhancing the relationship between the academic environment and the professional community.
The main speaker was Yerlan Umarov, Head of the Visit Shymkent. He provided detailed information about the tourism potential of the city, the importance of a professional approach to the development of hospitality and new trends in the tourism industry. During the lecture, a professional guide, as well as experts and travel bloggers shared their knowledge and fascinating stories about the sights of Shymkent, allowing students to gain valuable insights and inspiration for their future careers.
One of the key events of the meeting was the signing of an agreement between the School of Liberal Arts and Visit Shymkent on the organisation of student internships. A memorandum of cooperation was also signed, this broadens horizons for the development of educational programmes in tourism and hospitality. Students will be able to gain practical skills directly from the tourism industry, work with experienced professionals, and participate in real-world projects.
